Compact and Powerful High Speed Centrifuges
For more than 20 years, Herolab has been a leading force in
the technological development of centrifuges. Many centrifuges in the field
today, although not sold under the name Herolab, are examples of this skilled
engineering and electronic know-how.
As Europe's largest manufacturer of highspeed centrifuge tubes and bottles
Herolab profits from its relationship to the leading centrifuge manufacturers in
the field today.
In 1993 the Herolab range of centrifuges was launched, UniCen ®
shortly followed by the MicroCen ® benchtop models. In the meantime
our range of centrifuges goes up to High Speed centrifuges, the HiCen®
Series. Customers all over the world profit from the quality and benefits
offered by our centrifuges. Hi Advanced features like the APRI™ (Automatic
Positive Rotor Identification) system with the combination of a fully digital
control combined with an analogue entry makes them easy
to operate.
A wide choice of rotors matched with tubes and bottles from Herolab's production
enables the user to have a versatile instrument for daily routines. The smallest
fixed angle rotor is the 24-place microliter rotor and the largest capacity is 6
x 1,000 ml. Most of the rotors can be used in existing centrifuge of other
brands and other manufacturer rotors are accepted if the conical spindle is
identical.
The five models are:
All models have the same drive spindle. Therefore the rotors
are interchangeable between all instruments if the size and weight fits. They
have all the benefit of the direct drive motor system. The motors are brushless
and directly coupled to the self centering device for quiet and smooth
operation. There is no need of a belt or a gearbox. The accuracy of speed is in
all instruments ±10 rpm
The refrigerated models need no vacuum to achieve or maintain the temperature.
This is an additional benefit to keep service cost down. A difference of the
temperature during the run and the repeatability is within 1°C. The
refrigeration compressor has an extended lifetime due to the heating and cooling
bypass system which keeps the unit running without the stress of frequent
starting and stopping.
All instruments from our production are CE marked. Herolab has its own quality
management system which is according to the ISO 9001 requirements.

The HiCen®21 C
has a maximum speed of 21,000 rpm with a maximum g-force
of 56,347 xg. This is the centrifuge for daily routine. The smallest
rotor from our program is the 24-place microliter rotor. The largest
capacity for this centrifuge is the 4 x 1,000 ml fixed angle rotor.
The HiCen®XL
is the larger version with the benefit of a large capacity swing-out
rotor for bottles up to 4 x 1,000 ml respectively high numbers of tissue
culture tubes or microtiter plates. The maximum speed is 21,000 rpm with
a maximum g-force of 56,347 xg. The smallest rotor from our program is
the 24-place microliter rotor. The largest capacity for this centrifuge
is the 6 x 1,000 ml fixed angle rotor.
New for the scientific world and industrial companies is the
availability of the optional water-cooled refrigeration system
regardless which voltage or frequency is required. This allows the user
to minimize the heat output to the laboratory and fits to the modern
buildings where recycling water supply systems are existing.
Rotors:
18 Fixed Angle Rotors beginning with a rotor for microliter tubes and
ending with the rotors for four respectively for six bottles of 1 liter
are available for these two centrifuges.
Seven Swing-Out Rotors are existing for special requirements beginning
with rotors for microwell plates, standard tube sizes and ending with
the large volume rotor of 4 liters.
Not often asked for highspeeds are Vertical Wall Rotors. Herolab offers
two of these special rotors with 38.5 ml and 94 ml rotor pockets.
More than 120 tubes and bottles are available from the known typical
materials.
The refrigeratedHiCen®18
and the non-refrigerated HiCen®F are
designed to be mobile and compact. They can be easily installed in the
laboratory but can also be stored with their total height of 68.5 cm
under the lab bench.
The HiCen®18
is with its CFC-free refrigeration system and the maximum speed of
18,000 rpm a real high performance highspeed centrifuge for many
different applications. The maximum volume is 6 x 250 ml bottles with a
fixed angle rotor.
Three different characteristics are the reason for the success of this
type of centrifuge. The high perfor- mance refrigeration system combined
with the extremely quiet operating drive system up to 18,000 rpm with
36,223 xg and the wide choice of rotors from 1 ml to 250 ml and
microwell plates offers a compact real highspeed centrifuge for most of
the separation needs.
The small footprint and the flexibility to move this centrifuge to any
free place in the lab makes it to your PC - Personal Centrifuge.
See the operating panel and
you can recognize the easy-to-use design from the larger models HiCen 21
and HiCen XL.
The non-refrigerated HiCen®F
has the same size as the HiCen 18 but is very often bought from
laboratories for clinical but also for research applications. The
maximum speed is 14,000 rpm. Another Herolab instrument for the daily
routine.
The HiCen®T
is also without a refrigeration system but designed as a benchtop model.
The technical specification is identical to the HiCen F centrifuge and
the maximum speed is 13,000 rpm.
A total of 14 different
rotors are available for the models HiCen 18 , HiCen F and HiCen T .
The conical drive spindle is the same as with the larger models HiCen 21
and HiCen XL with the benefit that all rotors can be mixed between the
smaller and the larger HiCen centrifuge.
